The aim of this module is for the students to achieve an appropriate knowledge and understanding of the principles, descriptive and analytical elements of the subject matter and reach a level of practical competence in the application of this knowledge to acquiring optimum engineering solutions in the design of LPHW heating systems.
On completion of this Training Module and with respect to domestic dwellings trainees will: -
- Analyze Construction Details and calculate U and Y values from Part L of Building Regulations and CIBSE data.
- Calculate the thermal response factor of the building
- Carry out a heat loss calculation
- Size the boiler
- Pipe, Radiator and Pump Size
- Implications of insulating a building on the existing heating system under the Warmer Homes Scheme.
